Rue21 CEO and chairman Michael Appel departs company

Rue21 is out its chief government. The U.S.-based fast trend brand immediately announced that Michael Appel will not function either CEO or chairman of the Board. He had been with the company for 2 and a half years and can now return to his consulting apply.

The company thanked Appel in a press assertion for his time with the company and introduced John Fleming as interim CEO and Scott D. Vogel as chairman.

Fleming has been a member of the Rue21 Board since October 2017 and has held government positions at Dayton Hudson, Walmart and Uniqlo, together with having served as an advisor and Board member for StitchFix. He presently serves on the Boards of Bed Tub and Beyond, Visual Consolation & Firm and Untuckit.

"Contrary to the view that the apocalypse of retail is imminent, this is an thrilling time to build relationships and serve clients," Fleming commented. "Given the momentum we've got at rue21, I'm excited by the opportunity to speed up our business by modernizing our mannequin and delivering value to our clients by building a seamless and personalised expertise."
