The Money We Invest

Magic Hour

Disney frenzy strikes at precisely 10 minutes earlier than the closure of the park. The stores along Essential Road beckon with their shiny heat lights and completely positioned and smiling merchandise.

Your youngsters have already fastened on what they want. A $40 mild saber. A model automotive from Automobiles. Your wife has found a tie-dyed sweatshirt she’ll probably never wear outdoors of the place.

And you then ask yourself, whereas consuming your third and last field of popcorn for the day: “Do I want this Goofy hat? I mean, he is my favorite character.”

No, you didn’t need the Goofy hat, and your family didn’t need any of that other stuff you invested in. However you bought it anyway as a result of that’s how we hook up with that thing we’re lacking in our lives. Magic.

But did you catch the word investment? Pledging allegiance to Disney (or another company or model that fills that area in our hearts) is an funding. Sustaining that feeling requires maintenance within the form of you debit card.

Whether it’s Disney, soda pop, well being food grocery shops, or video games, each time we eat, so do our youngsters. Each dollar spent in service of our obsessions goes into our youngsters’ psychic banks. They will draw from and add to those accounts as they grow old, thus growing (or depleting) the household’s mutual fund.

The objective is to choose your investments correctly. I don’t mind a bit Disney from time to time as long as my youngsters realize it’s a special place and not an habit. I would like them to be savvy buyers, not gamblers. I would like them to still see Disney as magic, not Vegas.
